I need feminism because no matter how many comics, rpgs, Sci-fi shows, fantasy books, or video games I enjoy, I will never be fully accepted into Nerd Culture.
Any complaint I have about female characters and their unfair treatment in these mediums will be disregarded. Any attempt to connect with other fans will be seen as attention seeking and false.
My worth in the fandom will depend on how “hot” I am; the hotter I am the more I’m seen as fake, and the less hot I am the less my presence is tolerated.
I’m be accused of “friendzoning” the boys I don’t date, and be told that I’m only “pretending” to be a nerd to impress the boys I do.
I will always be treated like I’m less of a fan because I’m a girl.
